Description: Water scarcity is one of Africa’s most urgent challenges, threatening ecosystems, economies and communities. Around the world, innovative financing mechanisms are beginning to turn water management into investable opportunities.
Latin America has pioneered water funds and piloted water credit frameworks, with over two dozen funds channeling finance into watershed protection, reforestation and community access. Africa now has an opportunity to draw from these lessons while shaping its own approach—aligned with local governance systems, financing needs and resilience priorities.
Presented by AGES in support of the Carbon Markets Africa Summit and hosted by ESI Africa, this webinar explores how water credits could become a credible instrument for channeling finance into Africa’s water security, climate adaptation and inclusive development.
