Description: Chad’s energy transition has become a strategic lever to address energy poverty, strengthen energy security and support economic diversification in one of the world’s most climate-vulnerable countries. Chad faces very low electricity access, heavy reliance on traditional biomass and petroleum products, high electricity costs, and an unreliable supply. In the short to medium-term, scaling up abundant solar and wind resources, alongside decentralised renewable solutions, offers a viable pathway to expand access, power productive uses, and reduce fossil-fuel dependence.
