Description: The provision of energy services is an essential ingredient of socio-economic development. Energy is required in meeting the basic human needs such as food, shelter, health, transport, education etc. Although Zimbabwe has vast and diverse energy resources, the per capita energy consumption is only 24.7 GJ (MOEPD Energy Balance, 2000) compared with an average of 200 GJ for the developed countries.
