Description: This year’s Coal and Energy Transition Day will provide a comprehensive examination of the future of coal and South Africa’s evolving energy landscape, bringing together government, industry leaders, investors, logistics providers and independent power producers to explore the opportunities and challenges of a transitioning energy mix. Discussions will address the impact of geopolitics on energy demand, the coal market and the energy transition, a comprehensive examination of the future of coal, both globally and locally, and the need for South Africa to transition to cleaner energy sources. We will be in conversation with major coal producers, go in depth on the energy transition and the future energy mix and the concept of flexible coal as a complement to renewable energy. Additional topics will cover how to overcome coal transport and logistics constraints, financing both coal and energy transition projects and the growing role of Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and market liberalisation in supporting a more diversified, secure and inclusive energy future.
